AXA, one of the world’s leading insurers, entrusted our facilities management group with the task of improving water management in its HQ building to understand its uses and monitor potential leaks. Our solution, Aquaphys, installed their monitoring solutions in the boiler room, which is one of the key assets to control and optimize energy.

The positioning of the sensor is essential to better understand AXA’s use of water, but also our compliance with regulatory recommendations such as CSR and BREEAM®. In addition, monitoring our efforts improves our habits of consumption. Illustrated here, is an implementation in the boiler room with one of our Smart Trion sensors that monitors flow, temperature, and conductivity.

Following the installation of our sensors, the measures are communicated and recorded in real-time via our gateway and recorded to our Web Intelligent Platform. The reporting dashboard provides insights on their domestic hot water usage on several aspects. Temperature measurements allow surveilling hot tanks in the range of regulation norm reducing the risk of legionella – between 50°C and 60°C.

From the get-go, we found that some hot water tanks needed to be re-energized and set back online. Moreover, through analysis of hot water usage, timing in use periods, and decommissioning unnecessary tanks, we were able to reduce consumption by 50%.
